New toy, big dreams

Well, this beauty showed up at my house last week, a birthday gift from my 2 beautiful daughters and my Mom. (Thank you, thank you, thank you.) I am so EXCITED I could explode! I have been wanting to get into this Etsy thing ever since Sheriece sent me the link about 3 months ago. Oh, the possiblities! I hope my creative juices haven't completely dried up. I have crocheted about 5 scarves for the little kids at a Cherokee daycare center (it is a project here at work, we are trying to get 250 hats, scarves and/or mittens) for Christmas, all of which turned out pretty cute, so maybe I can muster up enough creative mojo to come up with some cute things. Purses, baby blankets, baby clothes, little girls dresses... oh, I can't wait. Now if I can just make it out of the fabric store with some purchases. I am famous for going into a store, spending an hour picking things up, then stop, look at everything in the buggy and just turn around and leave. It drives those who happen to be with me at the time CRAZY! Maybe if I do a few deep breathing exercises before I go in I will be able to make some selections and hit the trail to sewing bliss. Wish me luck!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, all!!!

Well, I am heading out to Memphis to be with family for Thanksgiving. My sweet husband has to work, so unfortunately he won't be going with me, but I am very thankful for the opportunity to go visit my children and grandchildren. I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday and take the chance to actually voice or write the things of which you are truly thankful.

Welcome Jaxon!

My beautiful daughter Maegan gave birth last night to little Jaxon Maddox Swain. He arrived via c-section at 9:50 pm CST and is 7 lbs 10 oz, 20" long. Mommy and son are doing great.
My other beautiful daughter Sheriece took time away from her family to go be with her sister during this time, as Maegan's husband Ron is still in Iraq awaiting a flight home. I am planning to go stay with her for a week in November, when Ron has to go back to his duties.

Congratulations Maegan and Ron. I can't wait to get to know your little man!!

Happy Birthday, Dad

Today would have been my late father's 68th birthday. I wish he was here for me to hug and tell him I love him as much today as I ever have. The last time I saw him I was leaving Memphis for Texas to spend Christmas with my husbands family. He was in his bedroom, I went in there to say goodbye and he hugged me and whispered he loved me. I will always be thankful those are the last words I heard him say. He will have been gone 12 years December 26 this year, but I can still hear his voice, remember the smell of his hair and I feel like he should be around somewhere for me to talk to when I need him, or just when I want peek in to see him sitting in his chair reading Popular Mechanics or the latest Radio Shack catalog.

I still ache that he isn't. I hope I never stop. I miss you Dad, I love you. Happy Birthday!!!

Dare I blog?

Well, I am going to give it a shot. It has been too long since I have used my writing skills, so it will probably be a slow start, but maybe I can contribute something that others can enjoy or appreciate, as I have with all of your wonderful offerings. I have a lot to learn about uploading pictures and all of this, but what the heck.
